About

A small team running real infrastructure

VPSFairy is not a reseller wrapper around someone else's cloud. We rent colocation space and bare metal from data center providers, build the virtualization layer ourselves, and run the support queue in house.

How we actually run this

VPSFairy started as a side project to give a configurator interface to KVM and Xen hosts, instead of forcing customers to pick from six fixed plan sizes. It grew into a small operation running a handful of colocated and leased bare metal servers across four regions.

We do not own data centers. We lease colocation space and connectivity from providers who do, and we build and operate the KVM and Xen layer, the configurator, and the support process ourselves. If a data center has a power event, it affects us the same way it would affect any tenant, and we say so rather than promising guarantees we cannot back.

Measured uptime across the fleet over the last 12 months is 99.95%, not five nines. We would rather publish an honest number than round it up.

PEOPLE ON THE TEAM
The team

Four people, no call center

When you open a ticket, one of these four people answers it. There is no tier one queue reading from a script before it reaches someone who understands the hypervisor. We have spent plenty of tireless nights in colocation space swapping drives and rerouting cabling by hand, and we would rather admit that than pretend the fleet runs itself. It is demanding work, but it is the kind we actually enjoy.

Infrastructure Lead

Owns the physical and virtual layer: rack contracts, KVM and Xen host builds, network routing, and capacity planning across all four regions.

Systems Engineer

Builds and maintains the configurator, the API, and the provisioning pipeline that turns a checkout into a running server.

Colocation Engineer

Handles the actual colocation relationships across all four regions: cross-connects, cabling, and the late night site visits when a drive or a switch needs to be swapped by hand.

Support Engineer

Handles the ticket queue and billing questions, and has direct access to the same hosts the rest of the team manages.

Principles

What we try to hold ourselves to

Price what you use

The configurator prices vCPU, RAM, and storage independently instead of forcing you into a handful of bundled tiers.

Say what we do not know

If something is a placeholder, a work in progress, or genuinely uncertain, we would rather say so than paper over it.

A person confirms real orders

Nothing about payment or provisioning runs on autopilot. A real person on the team reviews and confirms every order.
